Give me a "W"
Having shot some quite successful "W" shots in the past I could not resist to pull a stop when I saw my second favourite wheat field combined with this phenomenal good looking sky.
Earlier versions of "Whisky" have been published in magazines and are currently on public view in the Lyth Arts Center. Go on, treat yourself to a great exhibition of local artists work and some yummy cakes!

SWPP Gold awards July 2008
Yet I got some more thrilling results in this international photo competition. I managed to get 2 more Gold awards this month, one in the Monochrome and one in the Landscape category.
About 225 pictures were entered in those two sections and only 7 got the highly wanted "Gold", which is going forward to the annual judging to find the best photo of those categories.
To be honest, I am over the moon as I had the feeling that none of my photos would get a gold this month... and to bag two then... I am truly happy!
I felt that the judging was quite strict, yet again, but thats exactely how I would expect it to be in an international competition. There were many strong images that got "Silver" but only the very strong ones got the "Gold".
This month I had little time again as we were going on Holiday at the beginning of the month so I only entered 5 images which 2 got gold, 2 silver and one bronze.
About 2000 images were entered alltogether and only 52 got "Gold".
Here are my 2 winners, first the Landscape, then the Monchrome gold.

The Royal Handshake
Yesterday I was invited to a presentation at the Castle of Mey, where Prince Charles spends his Summer Holidays.
The Architect Andrew PK Wright OBE has written the "Caithness Redundant Buildings Inventory" for the North Highland Initiative, one of the Prince`s charities, which was presented to Prince Charles yesterday.
Chris Gregory, a fellow photographer friend and myself had the delightful job of photographing old and redundant buildings for the presentation panel. Chris and I had 4 large photos choosen by Andrew to represent the main 8 categories of the panel.
After Prince Charles has had a chat to different people in the room it was our turn to meet HRH. I was kind of nervous as it was my turn to recieve the royal handshake, but it turned out to be a very casual conversation and there would have been no need to be nervous at all. Phew!
Mymy, I would have never thought that my work would be complimented by Royalty one day...
Photography Monthly Magazine August 2008

Digital Camera Magazine August 2008
I am delighted to find a two page spread in the August issue of Digital Camera Magazine. I was hoping that they would print at least one of my pictures in the Hotshots department, but to see three of my photos printed is a very welcome surprise!
I have had quite a few emails of people responding to this article telling me that they really like my style. Ah, nice to know....
