East is best

Well, at least today it was like this. After a very grey and wet start of the day on the North coast we decided to go East where we have spent a cracking morning on the the coast there. Everyone was happy, kids, dogs, photographers... Here are some impressions of this little day out...

The great outdoors

Surely this is where kids feel best. Today I shot these kids having a cracking itme outdoors. Andnot only the kids had a good time :-)
After well over 1000 shots with the new 5D MkII I feel very comfortable with almost all of the new functions of this fantastic cam.

Red

A couple of years ago this door was painted in a most lucious russian green...

As you might have gathered in my Valentines day entry, I have this thing going for red doors. If a nice red door has a beautiful lock attached, its even more so a bonus... Here are two superb specimen that caught my eye...

A little PS excercise

I love surreal art and I thought that this photo of Dunnet beach is the ideal base for some nice PS excercises.
As I treat each an every photo individually and not with "actions" each and every photo will have its own flair and not two photos will be the same.

Thanks to a good friend who discovered and shared the whereabouts of this great location with me I could shoot those incredible pics of old stuff.

SWPP UK Photographer of the year 3rd place

Just before the professionsal imagemaker, the magazine of the SWPP arrived and I had a quick look what is in this months issue.
I was delighted to see my two photos for SWPP photographer of the year in the landscape & monochrome category being printed.
Then I scrolled through the complete roll of honour and to my absolute surprise I saw my name popping up a third time.
Haha, what a nice surprise that I am now officially SWPP UK Photographer 3rd place yet again after getting the title last year too.
Needless to say that I am more than pleased that I have got this superb award too:-)

Loch More

This is one of my favourite locations in Caithness, Loch More.

If the loch is quite full there is an amazing amount of water gushing over the dam. Although I have captured this situation many, many times, I could not resist to do it again and again and again...

Happy Valentines Day

Only you have got the key to my heart....

Roaming round

Yesterday it was the perfect afternoon to roam round a little in snowy Caithness. Some of the roads were still quite icy, so we went somewhere completely different than we had intended when we set off...
Here are some Caithness impressions...

Boring?

Oh how broing?? Yet again we have been to Dunnet Beach... Yet another fantastic, ever changing sky to capture... Boring you might think? I dont think so one little bit, as I know that people would give a lot to admire this great view.

Snowy Thurso

WOW, I thought we were quite lucky to get some snow at the weekend, but yesterday we got about 4 inches in a couple of hours with some more overnight. The kids are absolutely exstatic with the wite stuff, and I confess, I am a little too :-) Some images of Thurso shot with a little "pointandshoot"

Snowy Caithness

Over the weekend there we had some snow that covered Caithness very slightly. Yesterday we went out to capture some of the nice views.

Dunnet Beach

Yet again we have been to the wonderful Dunnet Beach... Its just so tranquil with nobody around and the kids and dogs can roam round where they like. Here are a few images shot over the last couple of days...

Screensaver Download

I am happy to announce that I have made two screensavers available for downloading.

I get asked quite frequently why I cant offer this option on my website anymore (after a total rebuild) and so I decided I will put this up again for all fans and followers of my photography.

Please visit here for more information.

Shot of the week 5

A slightly late post for the shot of the week, but then you wont have to wait so long for the next one anymore.
Shot during the week near Keiss, fantastic light on the rocks. Definately a place to come back and spend more time.
