Summer Exhibition

I am extremely proud to announce that this summer I will have my first ever exhibition.

My work will be shown at Lyth Arts Center during July and August.

I would like to say a big thank you to William, Mark, and Freyja for their support and enthusiasm to get everything right for the big day! And last, but not least thanks to Fergus who pointed me into the right direction and so patiently hung the photos with me.

Please come and visit this great place in Lyth, see other exhibitors and enjoy the superb home baking.

Lucky!

In the last two days I came across more horse shoes than I have been before in my entire life. Thanks to Mr. Anderson who let me have a little look into the smiddy in Watten. There were billions of horseshoes in various sizes laying round. What an amazing place!

The other one I found at an old cottage up in the hills... funny that it has been there all those years

Well, having seen so many horseshoes where the luck can fall into, what could go wrong now?

Scotland-Visions

why not try something new every now and again? Too many people trying to do the same thing anyway...
Today I have created a stunning little video showing some of my favourite spots in Scotland.

Charlie, the piper from Saor Patrol has kindly agreed that I can use one song of their cool music called "Lost Song". Thanks guys!

Over the next few weeks you will probably see more of those videos coming up, so stay tuned....

and... thanks for watching!

Blue & Green

This fantastic weather is continuing still and I have more than plenty of great shots that I have to work through on a rainy day.

The last few days I have captured some of the most amazing cloud formations in a good while and paired with some glorious sunshine this makes great photos.

Double Tonic

Today I got the music CD from the german band "Double Tonic" and I was delighted to see that they have used one of my photos for the centerfold in their booklet.
Double Tronic is mixing traditional celtic music with their very own jazzy style and the voice of the singer Yvonne is just incredible!
Well worth listening to "No Frontiers" from Double Tonic!
Pic to follow...

Sunshine

...paired with some stunning clouds and a great seaside location, what more can a landscape photographer dream of? This morning all of those essential criterias were spot on and so I decided to give my new gadget, a new ND filter another go.

I could hardly wait to come home and see on the pc what I have captured. See for yourself, I think that there will be some exiting new additions to my "Liquid Passion" gallery very shortly.

Smile

Well, today I really had something to smile about! When I checked out the Digital Camera Magazine website, I realised that I won the "Your Mission this Month" photo competition!

Not only will me photo be printed in the July edition of the magazine I also have won a nice little Lowepro photo rucksack.
I am really glad that I didn`t bother to choose a new bag for my husbands equipment over the weekend!
I am absolutely positive that my friend and her daughter are super proud now to find their little Beetle printed in a national photo magazine :-)
Read the little story here...
"I was doing some shots of my friend's daughter's Beetle. Beetles have always fascinated me and I wondered how it would look from the front taken with a wide-angle lens. I took the photo with a Canon 5D and Canon 17-40mm L lens, hoping that it would give it an edgy look. When I looked at the photo at home it became apparent that the car was obviously smiling at me.

"Why this won: We were blown away by Martina's graphic Beatle portrait, thanks to its unusual perspective and punchy colours. The symmetrical composition gives her image a professional feel and the brilliant blue of the sky makes the red of the car pop - an excellent job.

SWPP Gold Awards May 2008

This month there were nearly 1900 photos from national and international photographers entered in the competition, only 62 were awarded "Gold". Having entered 9 myself I think I did very well to get yet another Gold Award in the "Monochrome" Section and two Silver, one in Landscape and Pictorial.

Just to show you how incredible tough the competition is, I will show you not only my Gold but a Silver winning image too. (The other Silver you see further down at the first Out and About entry)
With this months Gold I have won 8 Gold`s so far this year and I really hope there are many more to follow.

Out and About...

Yesterday was the second Summer outing of the Thurso Camera Club this season. Despite thick fog at the meeting point in Thurso 4 members decided to give it a go in Lybster Harbour. Although we had "insider information" of the weather being "glorious" ther that evening we arrived at a merely overcast and dull harbour.

It was all very quiet, just the odd sound of shutters clicking and some birds singing. The reflection in the inner harbour area was an added little bonus. Later on the sky brightenend and made the trip worthwhile.

See another "lonely photographer" It`s Duncan this time... well done for not wobbling once in 30 seconds :-)
