Roses

I had a little play with some shots of roses tht I shot earlier... Unfortunately I don`t have too much time to do those shots.... I just love them, what do you think?

Night time play

whenever I had the chance to go out in the evening for a little recreational shoot, I took the opportunity. Here are some of my efforts... some taken in freezing cold conditions, but hey, it was so worth it!

A few changes...

well, a few changs have taken place since you have last visited, I am sure you have noticed.

I completely re-designed my website with a new colour scheme. Please come and have a look, a lot of new photos have been added too, so you surely wont miss out in having a little peep.

SWPP Gold awards September 2008

Yesterday morning I have put two last second entries into the monthly SWPP image competition, one for DigiArt and one in the Pictorial section.

Yet again, the photo I hoped would score a Gold, got a Silver and the one I thought, och well, lets see what happens, got the Gold.

And once more, my judgement of my own work was wrong, maybe I should enter more"lets wait and see" photos :-) Nevertheless, I am very pleased with both shots, and thats what counts the most!

Here is the Gold and the Silver...

Night - Time - Play

One of my favourite spots to do dome nightime shots has to be Scrabster harbour. Yesterday evening I went there to try my luck in some blue hour shots while the tide was in.

Here are some of the results...

The trip resulted in me buying a new tripod because some of the shots were quite disappointing due to an old and wobbly tripod :-)

My calendars disappear fast!!

Just one week after getting the new Caithness & Sutherland calendar 2009 back from the printer, I am delightd to say that they disappear really fast. Over 100 have already gone and if you want to be amongst those that are lucky enough to get one, I would advise you to make a fast move.

In the past years the calendars have gone all over the wolrd, as far as Newzealand and Australia. This year the furthest some went was Canada and again Australia. I wonder if I can top this this year?

Another Exhibition coming along...

Well, well, exiting days lay ahead. Having just finished with my first exhibition at Lyth Arts Center (still hanging in case you want to see it) I am delighted that tomorrow there will be the next exhibition opening.
I have applied for a gallery space in the newly created "Foyer Gallery" in Wicks St. Fergus gallery and my application was succesful! 8 pieces of my work will be hanging for a month alongside the work of 4 more local artists in the main gallery space, 4 of my photos will be hanging in the new "Foyer Gallery" for three months.

It`s always an exiting time choosing mounts and frames let along the photos that go with them. All in all it`s a very enjoyable experience and I hope that I will get the same fantastic feedback that I got from Lyth!

Photography Monthly October 2008

Thanks to Lisa from Photography Monthly Magazine who is coming back with lots of photo requests I have some more of my photos published.

This time Lisa wanted castles and stately homes and she decided that Scotland`s classic, Eilean Donnan Castle is eyecatching enough to be printed, along with Kilchurn Castle (although printed very tiny) EDC appeared on page 5 as a header and again as start of the whole article.

It`s a pleasure eworking with you Lisa, anytime again, which reminds me to get some lighthouses sorted for you :-)

Labrador Rescue Fundraising

Yesterday I was on a fundraising mission in aid of Labrescue Caithness. The event was held at the Bower Community Hall. I took the portraits of 20 dogs and all in all I was able to raise a total of £205 for my good friend Carolyne.

The dogs have been brilliant, although some have been more challenging than others. It`s great fun as you don`t know what to expect when dogs and owners come in.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time there, anytime again!

Here are some of the dogs from yesterday...

Presentation

Well, yesterday evening I gave a presentation talk at my local camera club. I was asked to speak about "Landscape & Compostition"
Without saying, I surely was neverous becasue I do not normally speak in front of a crowd. After 55 minutes of slideshows and talking everyone was still sitting on their chairs, nobody had run away or fell off.
I am well relieved that folks enjoyed my talk and that they liked what I have tried to bring over to them....!!! Anytime again :-)
